Located in Takapō (Tekapo) in the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve, Dark Sky Project offer a range of stargazing and astronomy experiences including exclusive stargazing tours from the summit of Mount John. At the Dark Sky Project base building set on the Takapō lakefront, we host a multimedia astronomy experience combining tātai aroraki (Māori astronomy) and science – a world first. The base building is also home to our Dark Sky Diner, offering spectacular lake views, delicious food and beverages both day and night.
